Many wealthy Chinese individuals are expected to visit the United States with a view to buying property during China's upcoming "Golden Week" National Day holidays beginning Oct. 1.

Figures from China Merchants Bank and Bain & Company's data showed buyers from have invested over US$13.1 trillion in property, of which US$655 billion was overseas.

An estimated 60 million members of China's emerging middle class are reckoned to be interested in buying property outside the country. As the weeklong national holiday approaches, searches on the internet for overseas properties are up by 66%, according to China's largest property portal, which said prospective buyers are reportedly most interested in properties in Orange County, California and Queens, New York.
